Lightning’s Ryan Callahan leaves Game 2 vs. Devils with injury

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Callahan was forced out of Saturday’s Game 2 against the New Jersey Devils after suffering an upper-body injury.

Callahan was on the receiving end of a big hit from Devils defenceman Sami Vatanen late in the second period. He looked to be in immediate discomfort while skating off the ice and heading straight to the locker room.

The 33-year-old was not on the bench to start the third period, and the team has announced he won’t return to the game.

Callahan, who has struggled with a number of injuries throughout his career, and was limited to 67 games this season, registering five goals and 13 assists.
