Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews leaves game vs. Islanders

Chris Johnston chats with Shawn McKenzie following the Toronto Maple Leafs shootout victory over the New York Islanders, a game that saw Auston Matthews leave with an injury, and Frederik Andersen improving on last season's weakness.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews left the ice late in Thursday’s matchup against the New York Islanders.

Matthews looked to be in discomfort after getting caught between Islanders Cal Clutterbuck and Adam Pelech in the final minutes of the game, and eventually left the bench after consulting with trainers.

He did not return for overtime or the shootout. The Maple Leafs went on to win 4-3 in the shootout.
