Maple Leafs fans don McDavid jerseys at Otters game

A pair of Toronto Maple Leafs fans sporting aspirational jerseys were spotted at the Erie Otters-Ottawa 67s game on Sunday afternoon.

While most fans of the Blue and White have been getting attention for tossing their sweaters on the ice as a form of protest to express displeasure with the backsliding Maple Leafs, these kids donned homemade name bars that signalled perhaps a silver lining amidst the Leafs’ struggles: the chance to snag No. 1 draft prospect Connor McDavid.

McDavid added to his points total in the Otters’ 7-2 drubbing of the 67s on Sunday, notching three assists. All but locked up to go No. 1 in the NHL Draft, McDavid now has 75 points (24 goals, 51 assists) in 29 games.
