Maple Leafs sign defenceman Kevin Gravel to one-year contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed free agent defenceman Kevin Gravel to a one-year, $700,000 contract.

Gravel, 27, had three assists in 36 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season.

In 106 NHL games with the Oilers and Los Angeles Kings, he has one goal and 13 points.

Gravel was originally a fifth-round pick by the Kings in 2010.
