The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Egor Korshkov to a two-year, entry-level contract on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old, selected in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft, will join the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies on a professional tryout for their Calder Cup playoff run.
Korshkov had five points in 19 regular season games this year for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the Kontinental Hockey League while adding three assists in nine post-season matchups.
He had 24 goals and 41 assists over 172 career KHL games — all with Lokomotiv.
Korshkov helped Russia capture silver at the 2016 world junior championship and finished the tournament 10th in scoring with eight points.
The Marlies open their second round AHL playoffs series against the Cleveland Monsters on Wednesday night.
