Marlies game cancelled as assistant Rob Davison suffers medical emergency

The Toronto Marlies’ game against the Texas Stars was cancelled on Friday after Marlies assistant Rob Davison suffered a medical emergency in the visitors’ dressing room at the HEB Center, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Friday.

Davison was transported immediately to hospital where he is currently being evaluated and will remain under medical supervision.

“Following what happened tonight with Rob in front of our players and staff, I consulted with Laurence Gilman, Greg Moore and the leadership group of the Marlies,” said Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas in the team’s official statement. “I was informed by the leadership group that the entire team was in a state of shock and not comfortable proceeding with tonight’s game. We fully support our players and staff in this matter.”

According to a statement from the AHL, the Marlies elected to forfeit the game. As a result, in accordance with AHL Rule 66.1, the Stars have been awarded a 1-0 victory.

No further updates on Davison’s condition have made available by the team at this time.
