Phoenix Coyotes GM Don Maloney confirmed there is no structural damage to the knee of Michal Rozsival.
The Coyotes defenceman was injured in overtime of Game 5 of the Western Conference final during a knee-on-knee collision with Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown.
Maloney told local reporters on Thursday that Rozsival has a knee/thigh bruise and that forward Martin Hanzal will require off-season surgery.
Brown was highly criticized after the overtime hit on Rozsival but the Kings forward will not face discipline from the National Hockey League.
The Coyotes were furious after the Game 5 loss that the hit took place after the whistle was blown.
“If Raffi Torres gets 25 games for his hit during the play, then this guy (Brown) ought to be done forever,” Coyotes goalie Mike Smith told reporters after the game.
The Kings won the Western Conference with the 4-1 series win over the Coyotes and will take on the New York Rangers or New Jersey in the Stanley Cup final.
