Mike Fisher calls Filip Forsberg suspension ‘a joke’

Kevin Fiala scored twice as the Nashville Predators won a physical contests against the New York Rangers 5-2.

Mike Fisher has taken to Twitter to call out the NHL after his Nashville Predators teammate Filip Forsberg was suspended three games for an interference play.

After the NHL’s department of player safety tweeted out a video explaining their decision, Fisher quote-tweeted it and wrote “This is a joke.”

The suspension was given to Forsberg after he hit New York Rangers forward Jimmy Vesey with a high check behind the Rangers net. There was no penalty on the initial play although Vesey was bleeding and had to leave the game.

Fisher announced last week that he was coming out of retirement to return to the Predators for one final shot at the Stanley Cup.

Fisher plans to sign a contract and be in the lineup by the NHL trade deadline on Feb. 26, while Forsberg will be back in the lineup on Feb. 10 against the Montreal Canadiens.
