Wild take Harding off IR, place him on waivers

Minnesota Wild goalie Josh Harding is expected to retire, according to a report.

The Minnesota Wild activated goaltender Josh Harding from the injured reserve Monday and placed him on waivers.

Harding hasn’t suited up for any games this season after breaking his foot in an off-ice incident in the off-season.

The 30-year-old Regina native went 18-7-3 with a 1.65 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage in 29 appearances last season before being shut down in early 2014 because of issues he was having with multiple sclerosis medication he takes.

Darcy Kuemper and Niklas Backstrom have shared the crease for the Wild this season.
