Canadiens-Rangers to decide world’s best bagels

Montreal mayor Denis Coderre, seen here firing the opening pitch prior to a pre-season game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets, has thrown down a bagel bet with the mayor of New York City.

Denis Coderre is putting his city’s most delicious establishment — smoked meat notwithstanding — at grave risk.

The proud mayor of Montreal has so much faith in his trailing Canadiens that he has challenged New York City mayor Bill de Blasio to a friendly but important wager based on the outcome of the Eastern Conference final that the Habs already trail.

The losing mayor of the series — which the Rangers lead 2-0, having stolen both games at the Bell Centre — must declare the winning city’s bagels to be the greatest, as well as fly the flag of the opponent’s club at city hall.

It is an unspeakable shame, and nearly as tragic as tattooing the enemy’s logo on your bald head.

Game 3 of the Bagel Bowl goes Thursday at Madison Square Garden. As if poor Dustin Tokarski didn’t have enough pressure on him already, he know has one more hole to worry about. Heey-oh!
