New NHL ugly sweaters are so bad they’re good

The National Hockey League is joining the party.

The ugly sweater party, that is.

NHL.com is featuring a new line of ugly Christmas sweaters — think candy canes, argyle, snowflakes and leaping reindeer — to their team gear, just in time for ugly sweater party season.

The sweaters run for $70 a pop and can be ordered online through the NHL shop.

Let’s take a look at what the Canadian teams are bringing to the party. (Sorry, Senators fans: Despite the frigid temperatures in Ottawa, there is no ugly sweater for the Sens.)

When leaves and snowflakes combine with 100% acrylic, beautiful (read: ugly) things happen.

jets_small
Who needs flying reindeer when you’ve got jets?

Pair this orange and blue number with a Christmas-light necklace and you’ve got a winner.

flames_small
This flames knit has all the makings of a classic Christmas sweater: red, white, snowflakes and reindeer.

canucks_small
This terrible sweater has been so popular, the team store is struggling to keep it in stock. (Seriously.)

The NHL isn’t the only league to feature these so-bad-they’re-good tops; The National Football League also released their own sweaters. Check them out here. (It’s worth a click.)
