He may just be the most charming bastard in all of sports. And now he’s officially athletics’ most stylish individual.
Jeff Gordon calls him the “James Bond of hockey,” and the male Sportsnet.ca video producer who sits across from me calls him “a handsome, handsome fellow.”
New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, renowned for dressing better and having wavier hair than you, made it official this week. He was named 2012’s Most Stylish Athlete at the annual Style Awards.
“I’ve played hockey for over 20 years now, so I’ve seen a lot of missing teeth, bad haircuts and terrible suits, but I’ve also seen some progress,” the smoldering Swede said during his acceptance speech. “I still believe the game of hockey can be a stylish game… in maybe a few years. We still have some work to do.”
Had a lot of fun last night at the #Fashionawards. My wife was happy I didn’t throw an F-bomb in my thank you speech this time…
