NHL Training Camp Blog: Teams return to the ice minus key RFAs

Dan Murphy takes an in-depth look at the current RFA situations surrounding several Canadian clubs in the NHL.

The countdown to the regular season is officially on with all 31 NHL teams and most of the league’s top stars returning to the ice for the start of 2019-20 training camp.

Players and coaches had various media obligations and there were some interesting notes and quotes from around the league. Unsurprisingly, many questions from reporters related to who wasn’t present at camp since a handful of prominent restricted free agent remain unsigned.

Ivan Provorov re-signed with the Philadelphia Flyers on a six-year term Thursday and Mitch Marner agreed to a six-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs late in the day Friday after much drama and speculation.

Notable RFAs, including Kyle Connor, Patrik Laine, Brayden Point, Mikko Rantanen, Charlie McAvoy and Travis Konecny are still out there though.

It turned out to be an eventful day in the hockey world. Below you can find some news, notes and highlights from the first couple days of NHL training camp.
