The Edmonton Oilers have placed forward Drake Caggiula on the injured reserve, the team announced on Thursday.

Caggiula missed Wednesday’s game against the St. Louis Blues with a hand injury. In 23 games this season, the Pickering, Ont., native has seven goals and 10 points.

To fill in for Caggiula, forward Cooper Marody has been recalled from the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL and Valentin Zykov, who was claimed off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes on Nov. 30, has been activated.

In six games this season Marody hasn’t registered a point but in 11 AHL games he has four goals and 14 points. Zykov has played 13 games for the Hurricanes, putting up three assists, with another two goals in six games with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers.
