Oilers’ RNH gets in first fight, listed day-to-day

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins didn't much like Dan Hamhuis' huge hit on him in the third period of Saturday's game, leading to a fight between the two players.

Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is listed as day-to-day following Saturday’s 5-4 loss to the Vancouver Canucks, according to Sportsnet’s Gene Principe.

Nugent-Hopkins participated in his first career NHL fight on Saturday – dropping the gloves with Canucks defenceman Dan Hamhuis. It is still unclear whether Nugent-Hopkins’ status is a result of the tilt.

Forwards Jordan Eberle and Teddy Purcell are also listed as day-to-day for the Oilers. All three are a possibility to play when the Oilers visit Los Angeles to take on the Kings Tuesday night.

Defenceman Darnell Nurse skated with Justin Schultz on Monday during practice, meaning there’s a chance he will also be in Tuesday night’s lineup.

The Oilers announced late Monday that the club has recalled centre Bogdan Yakimov from the American Hockey League’s Oklahoma City Barons.
