Oilers sign forward Joseph Gambardella to two-year extension

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Joseph Gambardella to a two-year contract extension.

Gambardella, 25, has played most of the past two seasons with AHL Bakersfield.

The native of Staten Island, N.Y.., had 29 goals and 19 assists in 50 games last season, putting him third in team scoring. He added six goals and four assists in 10 playoff games.

The five-foot-10, 201-pound Gambardella played 15 games with the Oilers at the end of last season, registering three assists.

The Oilers signed Gambardella as an undrafted free agent in March 2017 after he played four seasons with the NCAA’s University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
