The Edmonton Oilers signed Finnish goaltender Mikko Koskinen to a one-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.
The 29-year-old joins the Oilers after four seasons with SKA St. Petersburg in the KHL, posting a 1.99 goals-against average and .926 save percentage over that span. Koskinen’s 1.57 GAA and .937 save percentage in 2017-18 ranked second among KHL goaltenders.
Drafted 31st overall by the New York Islanders in 2009, Koskinen appeared in four NHL games in 2010-11 before heading to Europe. The six-foot-six netminder has represented Finland internationally in four major tournaments, most recently in the 2018 Winter Olympics.
