Panthers’ ownership would welcome back Jaromir Jagr next season

The Hockey Central @ Noon crew discusses if it’s good or bad for the NHL to have a 50-year-old player in the league, with Jaromir Jagr potentially stretching his career another six years.

It should surprise almost no one that the Florida Panthers would welcome back legend Jaromir Jagr to their lineup next season should he decide to return.

Panthers’ Vice Chairman, Partner and Alternate Governor Doug Cifu said as much Thursday:

Jagr, 44, is a UFA at the end of this season. He’s currently earning $3.5 million against the cap, scoring 59 points in 73 games so far.

Sportsnet’s Kristina Rutherford produced an oral history of No. 68 in which he discusses the eventual end of his career — whenever that might be.
