The Florida Panthers signed defenceman Ryan Whitney to a one-year contract worth $900,000 on Sunday.
Whitney had been in camp with the St. Louis Blues on a tryout offer before being released last week.
The 30-year-old defenceman appeared in 34 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season, scoring four goals with nine assists. In In 474 career games for Edmonton, Pittsburgh and Anaheim, Whitney has 50 goals and 209 assists with a minus-23 rating.
