Penguins’ Justin Schultz leaves game with gruesome-looking leg injury

Justin Schultz would need help getting off the ice after he was knocked to the ice against the boards and landed on his leg.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Justin Schultz left Saturday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens with what appeared to be a gruesome-looking leg injury.

Schultz got tangled up with Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec and fell to the ice with his full body weight landing on his left leg after his skate caught an edge.

The 28-year-old was assisted off the ice and put little to no weight on his leg as he headed to his team’s locker room.

The extent of his injury was not immediately known.

Schultz had recorded four assists through the first three games of the season.
