Philadelphia Flyers’ Nolan Patrick out with ‘infection in his face’

The Philadelphia Flyers select Winnipeg native Nolan Patrick from the Brandon Wheat Kings second overall at the 2017 NHL Draft.

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Nolan Patrick was out of on-ice activities Thursday because of an “infection in his face.”

Patrick was the second-overall pick in last month’s NHL draft. He had 20 goals and 46 points in 33 games during an injury-plagued season for the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings.

He missed the team’s development camp earlier this month while recovering from his second sports hernia surgery.
