Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds and defenceman Andrew MacDonald are out for the remainder of the regular season with lower- and upper-body injuries, respectively.

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall made the announcement following a 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday.

According to Flyers beat writer Tim Panaccio, both players suffered fractures.

Simmonds suffered his injury while blocking a shot not long after opening the scoring with his team-leading 28th goal of the season, his 100th in a Flyers uniform. He registered 50 points and had dressed in all 75 games for the Flyers this season. In fact, prior to this injury the 26-year-old had only missed nine total games in his NHL career dating back to 2008.

Meanwhile, MacDonald hurt himself blocking a shot. He finishes the season with two goals, 10 assists in 58 games.
