PHWA releases Conn Smythe Trophy votes

Watch as Alex Ovechkin is named the Conn Smythe winner of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Professional Hockey Writers Association has released this year’s Conn Smythe Trophy votes in full for the first time.

Alex Ovechkin took home the trophy with 13 of 18 first-place votes and 80 points total. Each first-place vote was worth five points, second-place worth three, and third worth one.

Evgeny Kuznetsov was the only other player to receive a first-place vote, finishing with 64 points. Braden Holtby was third with 16 points.

The voters’ choices were mostly in cohesion, save for a couple of stragglers who gave Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury some love with two third-place votes.
