NASHVILLE, Tenn. — J.P. Dumont is getting a raise from the Nashville Predators.
The skilled forward signed a US$16-million, four-year contract extension with the Predators on Friday. He’s earning $2.5 million this season.
Dumont is currently riding a franchise-record 16-game point streak dating back to Dec. 29. He has 22 points (8-14) over that span and was named the NHL’s second star of the month for January.
He originally signed in Nashville as an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2006 and had a career-best 66 points last season.
"J.P. Dumont’s commitment, leadership, work ethic and reputation as a big-game performer has helped him fit perfectly into the Predators culture since he came to Nashville," said Predators GM David Poile. "When he expressed a desire to stay in Nashville, we jumped at the opportunity to keep him as part of our team’s foundation."
The 29-year-old has 45 points (18-27) in 52 games this season.
In 568 career games with Chicago, Buffalo and Nashville, Dumont has 160 goals and 207 assists for 367 points.
