Rangers claim Matt Puempel off waivers from Senators

NEW YORK — The New York Rangers have claimed forward Matt Puempel off waivers from the Ottawa Senators.

The Rangers made the move Monday.

Puempel skated in 13 games with the Senators this season. He has skated in 52 games over parts of three seasons, all with Ottawa, with four goals and two assists. Puempel made his NHL debut on Feb. 21, 2015, against Florida.

He was selected by Ottawa in the first round (24th overall) of the 2011 draft.
