The Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Mathias Brome to a one-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Brome put up a career-high 43 points in 52 games during the 2019-20 season with Orebro HK in the Swedish Hockey League. The 25-year-old finished the season seventh in the league in goals and sixth in points. In 156 career SHL games, Brome had 41 goals and 99 points and added six points in 10 post-season games.

Brome spent his first two SHL seasons with Mora IK after helping the club earn a promotion in 2016-17 out of the second-tier Allsvenskan, in which he led the team with 49 points (18-31-49) and led the league with a plus-23 rating.

The forward also played for Sweden during the past two Euro Hockey Tours putting up six points in 12 games.
