The Detroit Red Wings have signed defenceman Jake Chelios to a one-year contract.

Chelios, 27, is the son of former Red Wing Chris Chelios.

He had spent the last three seasons with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers. Last season, he had four goals and 14 points in 41 games.
