The Detroit Red Wings locked up forward Gustav Nyquist with a four-year deal on Friday, the club announced.
Nyquist’s deal is worth $19 million, which will amount to an average annual value of $4.75 million against the salary cap.
Nyquist was the Red Wings’ fourth-highest scorer in 2014-15, finishing with 27 goals and 54 points in 82 games.

“We’re very happy to have Gustav locked up for four more years,” said Executive Vice President and General Manager Ken Holland. “He’s quickly become an important part of our team, and is a critical piece to the Red Wings’ future. He is just now entering the prime of his career.”
Nyquist has become a valuable piece of the Red Wings’ potent power play. He totalled 14 goals on the man advantage last season, which put him in a tie for third in the NHL with Philadelphia Flyers forwards Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds.
Nyquist has scored 59 goals and 115 points in 179 games over the course of his career.
