The Detroit Red Wings and Arizona Coyotes waded into the trade market fray Sunday, with the Red Wings sending defenceman Robbie Russo to the desert in exchange for a conditional 2019 seventh-round draft pick.

Russo, who was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders, suited up for 75 games for Detroit’s AHL affiliate this season, posting nine goals and 32 points for the Grand Rapids Griffins.

He logged zero games at the NHL level this season, though Russo earned 19 appearances in the big leagues in 2016-17.
