Chicago Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford could miss the rest of the season, according to a report from Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Lazerus, citing three sources, reported that Crawford has “vertigo-like symptoms” and “there is a growing concern within the organization that Crawford could miss the rest of the season.”
Crawford, 33, was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 27 with what the team called an upper-body injury. According to Lazerus, this is the second time in his career he has suffered from vertigo-like symptoms, with the other coming during the 2015-16 season.
“I think we’re always concerned about our teammates first and then our team second,” Jonathan Toews told Lazerus. “I think (Crawford) knows he’s trying to get better. He’s one of those guys that we know we can rely upon as a person, as a teammate. He’ll do what he can to get himself better, so he can get back to playing and get back and help our team when he knows how to.”
Crawford has a 16-9-2 record with a .929 save percentage and 2.27 goals-against average this season. Since his injury, goaltender Jeff Glass has stepped in and played well, with a 3-2-1 record, .910 save percentage and 3.18 goals-against average.
