The Vegas Golden Knights are closing in on an eight-year contract with forward William Karlsson, according to Jesse Granger of The Athletic.
Granger adds that the deal, which will carry an AAV of $5.9 million, will be signed in the next two days.
Karlsson recorded 24 goals and 32 assists in 82 regular-season contests last season, then added five more points in seven playoff contests.
The Swede has been one of the league’s more durable players since the start of the 2015-16 campaign, playing in 326 out of a possible 328 regular-season games over that span.
Karlsson, who’s a restricted free agent, played out the 2018-19 season on a one-year, $5.25-million deal after avoiding arbitration with the Golden Knights.
