The Winnipeg Jets are set to place defenceman Dustin Byfuglien on injured reserve with a concussion, head coach Paul Maurice told reporters Thursday.
Byfuglien collided head-on with Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Jamie Oleksiak early in the first period on Tuesday. He was visibly shaken up by the hit and wobbled back to the Jets’ bench, eventually requiring help from teammates.
After heading to the locker room, the veteran defenceman was allowed to return to the game after being evaluated. However, Byfuglien did miss the Jets’ game against the Blackhawks on Thursday.
Byfuglien has two goals and 15 assists in 21 contests for Winnipeg this season.
