Report: No further discipline for Sabres’ Ennis

Watch as Buffalo Sabres forward Tyler Ennis taps the referee with his stick at the end of the Sabres loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Buffalo Sabres forward Tyler Ennis will not be suspended for an incident involving a linesman in the final moments of Friday night’s game against the Edmonton Oilers, according to John Vogl of The Buffalo News.

John Vogl on Twitter: “No supplemental discipline coming for Sabres’ Tyler Ennis, NHL source says. Hockey Ops department has reviewed linesman incident.”

At the end of the Sabres 3-2 loss, Ennis approached linesman Derek Nansen along the boards and tapped him with his stick. Ennis’ stick caught Nansen in the hand, and you can see the linesman give it a shake.

Ennis was given a game misconduct for the action and apologized Saturday morning.

“I was a little frustrated,” the Sabres center told The Buffalo News. “I just went to go talk to the linesman and tap him on the bum lightly, but I think I got his hand a little bit. He was a little upset, so I apologized after the game to him and the referees. Kinda just said I shouldn’t take my frustrations out on them. They’re just doing their job.”

Buffalo (3-10-2) host the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday night for their third game in four days.
