The New York Rangers have signed head coach Alain Vigneault to a contract extension, the team officially announced Tuesday.
According to an initial report from Larry Brooks of the New York Post on Monday night, the deal locks Vigneault in through the 2019-20 season.
That deal would extend Vigneault’s contract by two years after signing a five-year deal in July 2013 to join the Rangers. Brooks also reported that the New York bench boss will receive a US $2 million annual raise.
The Rangers (31-17-1) are currently holding on to the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and are two points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Metropolitan Division.
