Ron and Don: Jets will beat the Predators, make the Cup Final

Don Cherry and Ron MacLean praise the efforts of Sean Couturier battling through injury, Nashville Predators' Austin Watson and Colton Sissons, and the Winnipeg Jets' playoff chances.

Don Cherry is picking the Winnipeg Jets in their second-round playoff series against the Nashville Predators.

The matchup pits the league’s two best teams from the regular season against one another, with a trip to the Western Conference Final on the line.

“Grapes” points to Winnipeg’s depth and talent up the middle as one reason why he’s taking the Jets over the Presidents’ Trophy winners.

“When you control the draws, you control the game, and that is a big thing with Winnipeg,” Cherry said during Coach’s Corner on Monday. “And they will win, and they will be in the finals.”

The (new) Jets franchise had never won a playoff series until beating the Minnesota Wild in Round 1 this year, but coach Paul Maurice’s group seems primed for a big run this spring.
