Sabres’ Jack Eichel set to return from high-ankle sprain vs. Blackhawks

Watch as Matt Grzelcyk caves in Jack Eichel who skates off the ice in obvious pain to his lower body.

Buffalo Sabres star Jack Eichel is finally set to return from a high-ankle sprain.

Sabres coach Phil Housley made the announcement prior to a Saturday afternoon home game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The 21-year-old was injured in a Feb. 10 game in Boston when he was taken down by Bruins defenceman Matt Grzelcyk. Eichel returned to practice earlier this week and skated on a line with Jason Pominville and Zemgus Girgensons.

Eichel led the Sabres with 22 goals, 31 assists and 53 points through 55 games prior to getting injured, and he still leads his team in those categories despite missing nearly six weeks, which speaks to the struggles this team has faced this season.

The Sabres sit dead last in the league standings with 56 points after 70 games.
