The Nashville Predators have signed veteran forward Scott Hartnell to a one-year deal worth $1 million.

The 35-year-old winger was bought out by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday after scoring 13 goals and 37 points in 78 games this past season.

Hartnell’s new deal with the reigning Western Conference champions is a homecoming off sorts as the Regina, Sask., native was drafted by Nashville with the sixth-overall pick in the 2000 NHL Draft, spending his first six NHL seasons with the club.

Hartnell has registered 314 goals and 683 points with 1,727 penalty minutes in 1,187 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers and Predators.
