Ottawa Senators forward Alex Formenton is heading back to junior.
The 19-year-old 2017 second-round pick was told after Ottawa’s 4-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres Thursday evening he would be heading back to the OHL’s London Knights for the remainder of their season.
Thursday’s game was the ninth one Formenton appeared in for Ottawa meaning he was right up against the 10-game wall before a year of his entry-level contract would’ve been burned.
Formenton scored a goal Tuesday against the Arizona Coyotes for, simultaneously, his first NHL career point and marker of his career.
