Blue Jackets’ Bobrovsky on IR, out 4-6 weeks

The injury bug continues to bother the Blue Jackets as goalie Sergei Bobrovsky had to leave the game after over-extending on a save.

The Columbus Blue Jackets simply can’t catch a break this season when it comes to injuries, as goalie Sergei Bobrovsky was placed on injured reserve Monday — retroactive to Jan. 21 — and is expected to miss the next four to six weeks.

Bobrovsky injured his groin during his team’s final game before the all-star break, which forced him to pull out of the NHL All-Star Game that was hosted by his own team.

The 2013 Vezina Trophy winner, the first Russian to ever win the award, is 16-15-2 with a 2.85 goals-against average and .913 save percentage in 33 appearances this season.

With Bobrovsky out, general manager Jarmo Kekalainen called up netminder Anton Forsberg from the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons.

The Blue Jackets currently sit 14 out of an Eastern COnference playoff spot and host the Washington Capitals Tuesday.
