Erik Karlsson will make his season debut for the San Jose Sharks on Friday night against the Vegas Golden Knights after missing the team’s opener due to the birth of his daughter.

Karlsson and his wife Melinda welcomed a baby girl earlier this week, which forced the defenceman to miss Wednesday’s game, also against Vegas.

The 29-year-old had three goals and 42 assists in 53 games last season for the Sharks, his first with the franchise after being traded from the Ottawa Senators.

Vegas got the better of San Jose in the opener and defeated the Sharks 4-1.
