Sidney Crosby will not represent Team Canada at the upcoming world hockey championship.

The 31-year-old told reporters Thursday that instead of participating he’ll take the time to rest.

The superstar centre said he doesn’t have any “significant injuries,” but as he gets older “there are things that nag you.”

Crosby enjoyed a tremendous regular season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, finishing with his first 100-point campaign since 2013-14. Unfortunately for Crosby and the rest of the Penguins, the team was swept in the first round of the playoffs by the New York Islanders.

The tournament will be held from May 10 to May 26 in Slovakia.
