Stars edge IceHogs in Game 6 to advance to Calder Cup final vs. Marlies

CEDAR PARK, Texas – Roope Hintz scored 19:51 into overtime as the Texas Stars advanced to the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup final on Monday with a 2-1 victory over the Rockford IceHogs in Game 6.

Texas will face the Toronto Marlies in the championship final, which begins Saturday in Toronto.

Sheldon Dries also scored for the Stars while Mike McKenna made 38 saves.

Chris DiDomenico had the lone goal for Rockford, tying the game 18:26 into the third. Jeff Glass stopped 38 shots.

The Marlies advanced to the final by sweeping the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in four straight games in the third round. Toronto also swept the Syracuse Crunch in four games in the second round after beating the Utica Comets 3-2 in the best-of-five first round.
