Ryan Dixon and Rory Boylen co-host Tape to Tape, Sportsnet’s weekly NHL podcast and a one-stop shop for news, analysis, opinion, wild trade speculation and interviews covering news and entertainment around the league.
Want on-point analysis? We got it. Want trade scenarios of all kinds? We got it. Want insightful interviews with insiders, entertainers and players? We got that too. With these two putting their spin and giving their takes on the news each week, there’s no where else NHL fans need to go.
On this week’s show, the guys talk about the recent world championship in Russia, a critical off-season for the St. Louis Blues, the future of Steven Stamkos, and of course the Stanley Cup Final. Who are you picking to win it all?
Josh Yohe of DKPittsburghSports.com joins the show to discuss the incredible turnaround the Pittsburgh Penguins have gone through since Mike Sullivan was brought to coach the team in December. The team hasn’t missed a beat without starter Marc-Andre Fleury as rookie Matt Murray has stepped in, playing like a seasoned veteran.
Yohe also gives his thoughts on the emergence of Phil Kessel as a Conn Smythe candidate. Kessel was shipped out of Toronto in the off-season, but has been embraced with the Penguins as part of their HBK line.
Later, Kevin Kurz of CSN is brought on to talk about the San Jose Sharks, who’ve finally broke through to the Cup Final. The Sharks looked like they were headed for a rebuild after blowing a 3-0 series lead to the Los Angeles Kings in 2014 and missing the post-season altogether last year, but have put together an impressive playoff run, proving wrong all those who doubted them.
Joe Thornton has seen the C removed from his jersey but finally has the hockey world rallying around him as he looks to show he can win the Stanley Cup. Is this team finally ready lift Lord Stanley?
Ryan and Rory share who they think is going to come out on top and in how many games as well.
