Hockey Canada is scheduled to host a press conference Monday in Toronto to announce its management group for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
So with that in mind here are six potential candidates that could be involved.

Doug Armstrong
The St. Louis Blues president and general manager is considered the favourite to oversee the group. Although his team hasn’t had much playoff success, Armstrong has built one of the deepest rosters in the NHL. He helped put together the 2014 Olympic team alongside Steve Yzerman.
Jim Nill
Nill was the man in charge of assembling the 2015 world championship team that went unbeaten and won gold earlier this year. Nill has done a great job in his brief time with the Dallas Stars and has a long history representing Canada at international tournaments.
George McPhee
The former Washington Capitals GM assisted Nill in putting together Team Canada’s 2015 world championship team. Although he’s not currently employed by an NHL team, he’s considered one of the potential candidates for the vacant Toronto Maple Leafs GM gig.
Peter Chiarelli
Like Armstrong, the new Edmonton Oilers GM helped put together Canada’s 2014 Olympic team. As one of the most respected hockey minds in the business, Chiarelli would be a valuable addition.
Joe Sakic
As a player, Sakic represented Canada many times throughout his Hall of Fame career and won a gold medal at the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics. If he’s not too preoccupied with getting the Avalanche back into the playoffs, this would be a good opportunity for him.
Martin Brodeur
Brodeur is now an assistant GM with the Blues. Joining Team Canada would be a chance for him to work beside Armstrong — assuming Armstrong is named to the management group — and add international managerial experience to his resume.
