The best of the NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft

Professional hockey players are often accused of lacking personality during interviews. The remedy for this apparent stiffness, it seems, is what Don Cherry would call “pop.”

The 2015 NHL All-Stars kept their cups full and the laughs coming during the Fantasy Draft.

Here are the best moments from the NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft.

Columbus uh… welcomes Rick Nash

Some Columbus Blue Jackets fans clearly haven’t moved on from the Rick Nash era. Nash walked onto the stage to a chorus of boos. The New York Rangers forward spent nine years in Columbus before asking to be moved in 2012.

Nick Foligno plays to the home crowd

Was there ever any doubt? Captain Foligno selected his Columbus Blue Jackets teammate Ryan Johansen first overall.

Toews calls Kessel ‘very coachable’

Toews clearly pays attention to Toronto media. The team captain praised Kessel for being coachable, which is an obvious reference to this.

Ovechkin really wants that Honda Accord

Alex Ovechkin spent the early part of the evening lobbying for himself to be selected last in order to walk away with a brand new Honda Accord. The Great 8 kept the laughs coming throughout the night whenever he appeared on camera.

Kessel and Seguin trade redux!

Jonathan Toews might have to start answering to Captain Comedy rather than Captain Serious. Toews pulled the trigger on a trade that saw Tyler Seguin and Phil Kessel swap teams. A homage, obviously, to the trade that sent Kessel to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a package of draft picks that the Bruins used to select Seguin second overall in 2010.

Ovechkin picked… third last

Poor Ovechkin, he’s going to have to dip into his $10 million salary to buy himself a Honda Accord.
