The NHL frozen in time: Mostly goalie edition

Craig Anderson showed that he is clearly upset with his teams play in front of him when he left the ice very quickly at the end of the first period.

As a goalie myself, I can confirm that there’s a weird science to how we operate.

Why do they shovel snow to the side of their crease? Is that little amount of snow being removed going to make a difference to their game? Do they really need a sip of water at EVERY stoppage?

A goalie’s game is both in constant movement and in long stretches of inaction.

Here are five frozen moments from goaltenders Saturday.

1. Dustin Tokarski

I’m not saying goalie equipment is too big these days, but Tokarski better go get that growth on his arm checked out.

2. Ben Bishop

A lesson for all you kids: poor Ben Bishop is now stuck like this forever.

3. Tuukka Rask

4. Braden Holtby

Holtby is known for this focusing exercise where he follows a single drop of water down to the ice. Here he looks like he’s lost track a little.

5. Craig Anderson

There were so many pucks thrown at Anderson Saturday that at one point there were two on the ice.
