Tomas Plekanec is returning to the Montreal Canadiens after signing a one-year contract with his former team.

The contract is valued at $2.25 million.

Plekanec, 35, had spent his entire career with the Canadiens until he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trade deadline.

He had six goals and 26 points in 77 games last season.
