#LeafsIn5Words becomes top Twitter trend

The term “don’t kick a man while he’s down” doesn’t really apply to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Twitter users.

As the NHL enters the all-star break, the Maple Leafs are riding a six-game losing streak and have dropped 14 of the past 17 games. The players are frustrated. The coaches are frustrated. Management is frustrated.

The fans are frustrated too, so when Tim and Sid producer Jeff Azzopardi started the hashtag #LeafsIn5Words it didn’t take long for Leafs Nation to hop on board.

Within an hour, it became the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter in Canada.
