New Year’s Eve is for starting the night dressed to the nines and ending it sloppy, tattered and maybe sweaty.
So it seems appropriately classy that a hockey team – in this case, the Adirondack Phantoms – to don the elegant tuxedo jersey (a model previously seen on at least one beer-league team) for a Dec. 31 year-end gala against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Phantoms (fashion-)forward Brayden Schenn, a Philadelphia Flyers signee who has found lockout refuge with his club’s AHL affiliate, tweeted out a photo of the jersey:

Even better, the Phantoms’ dapper one-off sweaters were auctioned off after Monday’s game, which the better-dressed party lost 4-3 in a shootout. The proceeds of the rented tuxes benefited WAIT (Welcoming Adolescents in Transition) House of Glens Falls, New York, which helps homeless youth.
Love those cuff links.
