The William Nylander contract saga came to a satisfying end for Toronto Maple Leafs‘ fans on Saturday with the team signing the winger to a six-year deal worth $41.77 million.
It was a day that had many refreshing their Twitter feed and patiently waiting for an announcement to be made. In 82 games last season, Nylander had 20 goals, 41 assists and 61 points along with a goal, three assists and four points in seven playoff games.
Here is a timeline of how the day unfolded on Twitter starting with the highly anticipated #NylanderWatch.

Then came the official announcement of the deal, only minutes before the 5 p.m. ET deadline. That was quickly followed by a wave of tweets, including some from Nylander, Kyle Dubas and pretty much everyone else.
The extension has a current season average annual value (AAV) of $10.2M and an out-year (years 2-6) AAV of $6.9M. #LeafsForever
